About USUI Reiki Treatments
What is it?
USUI Reiki is a Japanese energy therapy system developed by Mikao Usui in the 1920’s. There are written records of forms of healing similar to Reiki practiced since the prehistoric time of Atlantis and as a form of healing known as Sekhem Energy Healing practiced in Ancient Egypt. The healing process was channeled through Mikao Usui and then systemized for mainstream use in 1920. However, the essential form of this ancient healing practice has been in use by humans on Earth for healing for as long as we have been known to live here.
How Does It Work?
Reiki has been used to facilitate healing of minor ailments such as headaches, colds, flu, sore throat, fatigue, cuts, bruises and insomnia as well as very serious conditions such as multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and cancer. Reiki improves the effectiveness of other types of therapy.
Reiki can improve the results of medical treatment, acting to reduce negative side effects, shorten healing time and reduce or eliminate pain. If you have a health condition and wish to be treated with Reiki, it is recommended that you do so only with the consent of your primary care doctor
Your USUI Reiki treatment takes place in a video streaming room with your practitioner. You create a sacred space in your home where you will not be interrupted. The practitioner works with you during the treatment through words, sounds and through working with the formless energy between you that transcends time and space, she uses her hands to direct the reiki energy throughout your body, mind and energy field.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words:
霊 Rei: Spirit and 気 Ki: Life Force Energy
Ki is described as “the ether of intention,” and many have equated it with creative flow and inspiration. Ki can be easily confused with Chi, which is a Chinese word with the same written symbol, but a different meaning. Words in Japanese have much deeper meanings than we have the ability to translate in English. Here is an article on Ki by someone who understands the culture and depth of Japan and the Japanese language.
